Overview of The Resilience Circle™

How We Get into Trouble…

The most effective and all-encompassing way to increase your personal resilience is to take better care of yourself.  Every single one of us can profit from taking time to nourish our mind, our body, and our spirit every single day.

The good news is that by intentionally taking better care of yourself, you can increase your resilience-readiness both quickly and in a manner that is sustainable.  The bad news is that no one else can do this for you.  Self-care is, by definition, entirely up to you.

Most of us know all of this.  It makes sense.  We don’t argue the point.

Most of us, however, have not had much success in turning this cognitive knowledge into experiential knowledge.  Even though we understand that paying yourself first makes sense, we have not been successful at following through and actually doing the work required to keep yourself well-nourished.

As we become sidetracked by the swirl of our own busy lives, we start to take care of everyone and everything else first.  We persuade ourselves that it’s okay to defer taking good care of ourselves.  We assume that we’ll be able to continue to tough our way out of whatever challenges we are facing.

This is a risky approach to life.  It generates endless stress.  Rarely is it a path to sustainable health, happiness, and fulfillment.

How to Get Out of Trouble…

The more you are dealing with stressful situations, the more you need to take time to keep yourself balanced, healthy, and creatively alive.  Otherwise, your inner resources will gradually become so depleted that you will likely burn out.  You’ll end up with no charge left on your batteries, and eventually the lights will just go out.

But wait.  There’s more good news:  It doesn’t take very much time or effort to recharge your own batteries.  Doing so does require a daily commitment of a small amount of time, attention, and work.  When you apply yourself wisely and continuously, the payoff from systematically replenishing your inner resources can be immensely re-invigorating.

How to Create a Breakthrough

In order to be successful at paying yourself first, you may well need to establish some new daily habits and some new daily practices.  While this sounds easy to do, it rarely is.  Because most of us are far more comfortable with old problems than with new solutions, it is actually very challenging to establish even one new daily habit.  It is also challenging to take on a simple daily self-care practice and sustain it indefinitely.

To replace an old habit with a new one, or to sustain a new daily practice, you have to practice your new behavior(s) with persistence and continuity—and over a relatively long period of time.  You also have to be willing to regularly spend small amounts of time outside of your well-established comfort zone.

A Unique Program to Get You Started

The Resilience Circle is an ongoing 90-day-long experiential program that successfully helps folks like you learn how to pay yourself first.  Running now for over five years, the program was carefully designed to help you break through your natural resistance to change.  Year-by-year, Sandy Davis has tweaked and refined the program.  When you become a member of one of the Circles, you will benefit from his accumulated experience at guiding others so they can take successfully full advantage of his proven methodology.

Each Circle is comprised of an intelligent, caring, and mutually supportive group of no more than 10 like-minded individuals, all of whom are committed to tuning up their own self-care.

Each Circle quickly becomes a tightly-knit community of practice in which it is safe to experiment, to take on new behaviors, to make mistakes, to receive and give support, to learn from your mistakes, to get back on track, and to grow and prosper accordingly.

Each Circle meets virtually (i.e. via a telephone bridge line) for two hour-long teleconferenced meetings a month.  Sandy Davis facilitates the highly-interactive calls.  All you need to participate is a phone line.  Members have come (so far) from all over the United States and Canada.  (Depending on where you are calling from, you will need to factor in time zone differences.)

In between the twice-monthly calls, members keep their agreements to adhere faithfully to their chosen daily self-care structures (i.e., a set of foundational habits plus a set of simple self-care daily practices).  They also agree to keep a daily evidence log of the results they are creating for themselves.

For 90 consecutive days, they stretch themselves to stay a bit outside of their comfort zone.  When they follow through with the simple commitments they make both to themselves and to their fellow Circle members, they make valuable discoveries and achieve positive results that they find both remarkable and rewarding.

Many of the breakthroughs that members achieve relate directly to tuning up their own self-care.  Other breakthroughs go way beyond their immediate self-care, and end up shifting their lives in profound, positive, and far-reaching ways.

If you are ready to:
